York City boss Billy McEwan is hoping to make two new additions to his squad before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
Any signings are likely to be loan arrangements with a midfielder and defender the most likely targets for McEwan.
The Minstermen manager has also expressed his gratitude to supporter Michael Oglesby for his £5,000 donation towards a transfer kitty.
McEwan said: "We still need another couple in because we are still light in certain areas of the team. We need competition because you can't achieve anything with 11 players.
"We need a squad of 18 players all fighting for their spots and hopefully we can get one or two more in on loan. It was a fantastic gesture from Michael and his company Ardent Finance.
"I think our fans realise we have financial problems here and Michael has put his money where his mouth is to help the club. His money helped bring David McGurk back here and, if there's anybody else out there willing and able to do the same, I will welcome them with open arms.
"We saved the reserves in a short space of time because of our fans and I don't think you get this kind of thing at any other club at this level."
The City boss also confirmed that he had made an approach for released Doncaster Rovers centre-back Steve Foster before he signed for Scunthorpe United last week but scotched rumours that he could be interested in defender Tim Ryan, who is also believed to be available for transfer at Belle Vue.
