IT IS easy to live in one of the world's great tourist destinations without getting round to seeing many, or indeed any, of the sights.
York's Residents 1st weekend does away with such excuses - and gives something back to those who live in the city by granting them free entry to many popular attractions, as well as putting on live entertainment.
This is a big thank-you to residents from the York tourism industry, which is the city's biggest money earner.
Living in a tourist city has benefits but it is not always easy, thanks to the crowds. So it is right that residents should be so warmly welcomed alongside all our very many visitors.
