MAY I add to the comments made by Trudie Elliott about flying the flag (Letters, January 26), following Gordon Brown's suggestion to celebrate our Britishness?
I suggest that the Government should declare St George's Day as the appropriate day to celebrate our Britishness.
This description of our heritage has been watered down and marginalised by the devolution of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, leaving England vulnerable to further regionalisation and eventual oblivion through the policies of the EU which are being implemented by the Blair Government.
St George's Day must be preserved and celebrated along with an added declaration of withdrawal from the EU.
