SHAME on Steve! And on the Liberal Democrats who are neither liberal (generous, free from bigotry) nor democrats (believing in respect for the individual within a community).

So all the local residents who fought to Save Our Swim, who gave freely of their time for two years, who collected thousands of signatures in support of a pool on the present Fishergate site, count for nothing.

All the local groups who marched together to persuade the then perceived "enemy" to keep a community pool in the south of York, within walking distance of the city centre - not true of either other site - count for nothing.

The parents and toddlers, the school children and their teachers, the disabled and over 50s, and many others, count for nothing with Steve and his wonderful Lib Dems.

Whereas the Save Our Barbican members haven't helped, they cannot be directly blamed for Galloway "bottling it".

He has promised one thing as long as it suited his party in opposition. Ask the much missed Mick Bradley! When the chips were down, the leader's word counted for nothing.

Shame on Steve!

At a time when we are all exhorted to exercise more, which is only feasible if one has affordable local facilities, the Lib Dems offer Fishergate a toddler play area (uh - well a pool is that and much much more). They need not rely on the local community being forgetful however.

When election time comes round, many of us will take on elephantine characteristics - weighing more on the bathroom scales but not forgetting this betrayal via broken promises when weighing up who gets our vote!
