ALL Saints, Brayton College and Joseph Rowntree schools have been celebrating after winning North Yorkshire Rugby League Secondary School Cup tournaments.

All Saints won the Year Seven event after beating six other schools from the county, while Brayton College topped the six-strong Year Eight competition and JoRo won the three-way Year Ten tourney.

All Saints finished top of a group containing Huntington, Brayton College and Archbishop Holgate, who they scraped past 4-0 with a last-gasp try. Oaklands won group two after beating Manor and hosts Joseph Rowntree. The final went into golden point extra-time before All Saints grabbed the winning try to win 8-4.

Brayton College beat local rivals Barlby in the Year Eight final at Oaklands School. The two Selby-based schools had earlier dominated their York foes.

Barlby started by crushing Canon Lee before beating Burnholme and drawing 8-8 with Huntington, who were unlucky not to make the final after being undefeated.

Brayton started by beating favourites Millthorpe and Oaklands and in the final were first to score through Josh Skilbeck. Barlby hit back with a try from York City Knights scholar Jacob Scales, but Skilbeck had the last laugh over his Selby Warriors team-mate as he smashed through the defence and raced 50 metres to the corner.

Joseph Rowntree defeated Burnholme and hosts Archbishop Holgate to become Year Ten champions.

Archbishops opened up with a 20-0 victory over a committed Burnholme before going down 12-0 against JoRo. Burnholme took a shock lead against Joseph Rowntree with a well worked try, but experience told as JoRo, led by Aron Robinson and Nick Speck, ran in six unanswered tries to win 24-4.

The Year Nine competition was called off because of the weather.
