YORK Symphony Orchestra gave a fine performance on Saturday at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall at York University.
There was a little confusion at first when piano soloist Josephine Peach, who gave a splendid performance of the Shostakovich second piano concerto, was billed as a clarinet soloist on the front of the programme.
I remember Josephine when she took a harmony class at St John's College, where I titled my little piece The St John's March.
Also on this course was the conductor of the York Area School's Concert Orchestra so I got the chance to help out on piano with them for a number of years.
