YORK RI'S promotion hopes received a jolt on Saturday as they were beaten 42-10 at Yorkshire Three leaders Heath.
The visitors were 8-0 down in as many minutes when Heath kicked a second minute penalty and then scored wide out after a dropped pass had been hacked through for left wing Sykes to win the race to touch down.
RI were having difficulty getting into the game, handling errors spoiling promising runs by Tom Spillman and Jeffreys.
When RI were caught offside Heath were quick to run the ball and outpace RI and by half-time the hosts had built up a commanding 25-5 lead, RI's score coming just before the interval when Spillman broke from the scrum to score.
The second half was more even affair, with RI coming to terms with Heath's bigger pack. When Anthony Allport reduced the deficit even further, hopes were raised but a penalty and two more converted Heath tries put paid to any comeback.
