WHAT a shame that the exciting on-pitch drama on Saturday afternoon was overshadowed by violent clashes only a few hours later.

Rival football fans brawled in the city centre after York City's game with Accrington Stanley.

Although this happened away from KitKat Crescent well after the final whistle, it can only reflect badly on the club if its fans are found to be involved. City directors have pledged to ban those convicted of hooliganism. To retain the club's family-friendly reputation, they must stick to this promise.
