Leaders Leeman 'D' were humbled by Volunteer 'A's winning pair of Sam Jamieson and captain Chris Lamb, while Severus kept their hold on second place by sinking close rivals Britannia.

Cueball 'A's Margaret Price hit the tons, then captain Audrey Carling partnered Linda Stubbs to secure victory against Mitre.

Leeman 'A' also won by a slender margin with Linda Abley-Chris Waddington sealing victory against Volunteer 'B'.

Division one leaders Cueball 'B' were prevented from a total clearance by Tramways' Sandra Bruce.

Clifton 'A' kept the pressure on Cueball with Jo Hodges gaming 20 in the win against Shepherd 'A', whose Denise Fowler- oyce Swainsbury hit the tons.

A 23 from Flag landlady Sandra Fairclough inspired a 6-3 win against Slip 'B'.

Wenlock's final pairing Michelle Britton-Sarah Nicklin sealed victory against visitors Cygnet 'C', whose Roz Kerr registered 24.

Burnholme, leaders of division two, cleared up in the pairs to beat Jubilee 'A' 6-3.

Cygnet 'B' recovered after going 2-1 behind to visitors Shepherd 'B'. Tracy Billingham kickestarted the winning run.

Woolpack had to win all the pairs to beat Clifton 'B' and did so with Michelle Harrison-Julie McKie wrapping up victory.

Sun 'A' team's Maggie Jenkinson won a lone pairs before Chris Swales-Dorothy Barker saw off Leeman 'C'.

Hartley lays down the Law

THE Minster Law Individual League kicked off its summer season with an impressive victory by Mark Hartley over Lee Brundrett.

Shaun Day lost 10-2 to Mick Willsden but did make a brilliant 131 checkout in the final leg.

Paul Calpin also struggled on his debut going down 10-2 to an in-form Paul Botterill.

Tony Raymond beat last season's semi-finalist Jonny O'Mara 9-3.

Paul Cooper and Heath Scaife were all square at 3-3 at the half-way point, but Cooper stepped up a gear in the second half to win 9-3.

Mitre recapture divisional leadership

MITRE returned to top spot in division one of York Knavesmire Racing Open League after a 7-2 victory at Bootham Tavern 'A'.

Kev O'Hara hit a maximum for 14 darts and was well supported by Rich Corner with 16.

Clifton 'A' came back from 3-2 down to record a 5-4 win against Greyhound. A superb 105 bull finish for 18 from Martyn Turner was followed by 17 from Mark Hartley, who then teamed up with Steve Wade to clinch the win.

Falcon won their match at Huntington within the singles, while finishes of 111 from Mal Muncaster and 100 from Dave Smith inspired Crescent to a 7-2 win at Leeman.

Palace were 7-3 winners against Edinburgh to go two points clear at the top of division two.

Reindeer slipped up at home to Crown whose Alan Pectus closed out on 105, while Lee Nicholas salvaged the aggregate point for Winning Post against Huntington SC.

Edward VII were 9-1 victors against Old Ebor 'A', whose Ben Wade was their only point-taker.

Daz Smith-Linda Standley guided Phoenix to victory at Yearsley 'B', while Beeswing were 7-3 winners at Old Ebor 'B'.

The closing date for the summer season entries is Saturday, April 1.
