Dancing Lyra, who made a dramatic winning debut for Malton trainer Richard Fahey at Southwell last week, bids to produce an encore at Musselburgh tomorrow.

The five-year-old turns out in the DM Hall Handicap over a mile and will again be ridden by Paul Hanagan, Fahey's number-one jockey.

Previously trained by John Hills at Lambourn, Dancing Lyra raced at up to one mile-and-six-furlongs last season. But Fahey, who bought him at last autumn's Newmarket Sales, switched him back to seven furlongs at Southwell and saw the gelding sensationally come from virtually last-to-first to win in decisive fashion.

Dancing Lyra has a 6lb penalty to overcome tomorrow, but the style of his latest victory suggests he can oblige again.

Hanagan can also score on Nap selection Hernando's Boy in the Lothian Handicap over two miles.

Keith Reveley's charge ended last season with a five lengths success at Catterick. He has been hurdling in the meantime and is now primed to return to Flat racing. A winning return is anticipated.

Brave Bear is fancied to land the opening Wallyford Fillies' Handicap for Great Habton trainer Tim Easterby.

The four-year-old, proven in the mud, came good last autumn, winning two of her final three starts. Further improvement is likely this term and she is taken to come out on top over Angelofthenorth, a winner at this corresponding fixture 12 months ago.

An inspection was scheduled to take place this afternoon at Newcastle, where heavy rain has put tomorrow's jumps meeting in doubt.

If racing goes ahead, Polar Gunner can continue his winning spree for Norton trainer Malcolm Jefferson.

The nine-year-old has won his last four races, his latest victory coming at Wetherby just under two weeks ago. The handicapper obviously continues to raise his rating, but Polar Gunner has continued to defy him so far, and he is fancied to do so again. Tom Dreaper, who knows him well, again has the mount.

Dreaper can complete a double on Green Ideal, trained by his boss Ferdy Murphy, in the St James Security Handicap Chase.

The eight-year-old has won two of his last three races and is proven on testing ground, which he will have tomorrow.

Sheriff Hutton trainer Mick Easterby, who was celebrating his 75th birthday today, has runners at Musselburgh and Newcastle tomorrow.

Today's Chepstow card was called off this morning because of waterlogging.
