TEENAGE striker Alex Rhodes bagged a brace as York City reserves beat Grimsby Town at KitKat Crescent last night.

The former York College student scored both Minstermen goals in a 2-1 victory that also saw two trialists given a run-out for the home team.

Coventry City's Northern Ireland Under-18 goalkeeper Jonathan Tuffey and midfielder Martin Butterworth, who plays for Wensleydale Creamery League table-toppers Leyburn United, were both handed chances to impress.

Colin Walker's men only included five players - Dave Merris, Mark Hotte, Byron Webster, Joe O'Neill and Bryan Stewart - with first-team experience for City.
