VEGETARIANS in York will be choking on their leg-of-lentil roasts. York is the meat-eating capital of Britain.
The title of King of the Carnivores was bestowed on York by mustard-makers Colman's, who also claim Yorkies know more about meat than the rest of the country.
All this explains why we don't see cattle grazing on Knavesmire these days. And because there is no mention of poultry in the Colman's survey, presumably those traffic-stopping, finger-licking-good families of city-centre geese are safe to continue their jaywalking.
