THIS year's primary schools football leagues are heading towards a dramatic climax in the last couple of weeks.
Only one team has clinched a title so far - Clifton with Rawcliffe Federation, after wins over Poppleton Ousebank and Woodthorpe took them ahead of Yearsley Grove in League 'B'.
Dunnington are the closest to sealing another with the League 'D' crown just one win from two games away after they beat challengers Headlands 1-0.
League 'G' has developed into a three-horse race after St Mary's Askham Richard defeated Appleton Roebuck 2-1 leaving them in the mix in second place with Rufforth and Heworth close by.
Hempland can still be caught on paper but a 2-0 win over Huntington and a 6-0 defeat of Poppleton Road have made them League 'C' champions elect.
In League 'A', Westfield kept up the chase on Bishopthorpe with a 5-1 defeat of Clifton Green.
