GNER, the York-based East Coast train operator, has picked up the latest in a line of awards for its GO EAT catering on board its trains.
The rail firm was presented with the Onboard Catering Award at the Cost Sector Catering Awards ceremony in London.
M People singer Heather Small, whose song, Proud, has been adopted as the anthem of the winning London 2012 Olympic bid, presented the award to GNER's catering development manager Nick Spencer.
GNER provides restaurants on board more than 90 of its weekday trains, far more than any other UK rail operator.
Its menus feature collaborations with top restaurants and chefs along the GNER route, and are prepared using freshly-sourced ingredients, many from local suppliers.
Mr Spencer said: "We're especially proud to receive this award as the judges represent a wide cross-section of the catering industry. It's always gratifying to be recognised by your peers, although of course we can always do better and plan to keep improving the food on board our trains."
The Onboard Catering Award attracted entries from organisations involved in all areas of providing food on public transport, including airlines, ferry companies and shipping lines as well as train operators.
