York City players get more than £74 a week - despite comments from manager Billy McEwan stating otherwise.
In the wake of the defeat to Halifax Town, the Minstermen boss cited a lack of finances as one of the reasons why York are not ready for promotion - even if they did make the play-offs.
He said: "Let's face facts.
"Accrington have got money, we've got KitKats. They can bring players in on big salaries but I've got two players on the bench whose combined weekly wage was £74."
But club secretary Nick Bassett says that is wrong. Putting the record straight, he said: "There's not one player at this club who earns as little as that in a week - let alone two."
Former Luton Town trainee Luke Maitland was due to play for York City reserves at Doncaster today, kick-off 2pm. First-team regular Jamie Price was also in line for a start.
Squad: Reid, Price, Holmes, Phillips, Kamara, Hollingsworth, Stewart, Webster, Maitland, Rhodes, Taylor, Wrigley, Hilton, Thornton, Holt, Walsh.
