COUNCILLOR Dave Merrett should know that there would never have been such a thing as the rat-run (Rat-running Crackdown, April 17) if City of York Council had adopted the sensible idea of opening Terry Avenue while the Bishopthorpe Road sewer repairs were done.
This would have inconvenienced no one. Also, we were told at the outset that work would be in progress every day, and specific times were given; what a joke!
We who live around here know that this isn't happening.
Once again we are assured that all will be finished "for the races". Big deal.
So the visitors coming in will be catered for with minimal waiting in traffic jams; never mind those of us who live here and deal with this daily.
