YORKSHIRE endured another dreary day at Trent Bridge yesterday when heavy overnight and morning rain prevented any play on the third day of their Championship match with Nottinghamshire.
The game has taken on a remarkably similar pattern to two years ago when Yorkshire opened their away programme on the ground and after the first two days had been lost to the weather there was restricted play on the third day and a full day's on the fourth.
So far this time the first and third days have been complete blanks, with only 14 overs possible on the second day when Nottinghamshire reached 69-1, leaving bonus points as the only serious option for both teams today.
Yorkshire are keen to get in as much play as possible in preparation for tomorrow's Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy one-day match against Derbyshire at Headingley.
New signing Jason Gillespie, Australia's double century hero against Bangladesh, was due to arrive at Heathrow airport this afternoon and because he cannot get on a flight to Leeds-Bradford he will now be picked up at Heathrow by Deon Kruis, who is out of action with a torn calf muscle, and driven to Headingley for the game against Derbyshire.
