HAT-TRICK hero Lee Malpas led a 50-6 rout as New Earswick All Blacks' Pennine League third division clash at West Bowling 'A' was ended prematurely to spare the home team's blushes further.
Bowling, who caused the shock of the season last week by beating previously-undefeated Halifax Irish, fell behind after just two minutes when scrum-half Ben Jones intercepted on his own line and raced 80 yards to score out wide, with James Sanderson converting.
Loose-forward Chris Judge then added another try and, on 20 minutes, Malpas passed to teenager Dean Smith, who touched down in the corner after a 40-yard sprint, with Sanderson converting again.
Bowling hit back with a converted try on 34 minutes but a jinking run by Malpas, which took him past five defenders and over the line, provided a perfect response and Jones then dummied his way to another four points, with Sanderson converting to give the visitors a 26-6 half-time lead.
Acting-half Mick Harrison went over five minutes after the interval and centre Steve Perks set up a second try for Malpas, with both converted by Sanderson.
Malpas completed his hat-trick on 54 minutes, with Sanderson again kicking between the posts and, with 15 minutes left to play, Jones sent teenage prop forward Jack Stearman crashing over.
The referee then brought proceedings to an early close after another successful Sanderson kick.
Heworth 'A' finished their Yorkshire League Three ssseason in style by completing a double over neighbours Sherburn with a 33-6 home win.
The visitors went ahead with an early converted try but their joy was short-lived.
Carl Potter crashed over for Heworth after accepting a fine pass from younger brother Ben, who added the goal and then kicked a penalty to give his team the lead.
Player-coach Lee Clarke then provided assists for Jamie Wright and Gareth Kirby tries, with one converted by Ben Potter as Heworth led 18-6 at the break.
A smart Carl Potter drop goal and Wright's second try, converted by Ben Potter, early in the second half put the game beyond Sherburn.
Ben Potter released Andy Gaskell with a superb pass for another four points and James Richardson then displayed great pace to complete the scoring.
Shaun Strickland, Kevin Gitt and Paul Gill all caught the eye in a good team effort and Heworth are now awaiting a date for their Alliance Cup final meeting with Oulton 'A'.
New Earswick All Blacks Under-12s clinched the Yorkshire League division two title with a 50-6 victory over Hunslet Parkside.
Tom Holmes ran in a hat-trick of tries with Mikey Husband (2), Sean Malarkey, Arron Edgar and Liam Davidson also on the svcore sheet. Holmes also kicked seven goals.
