JOHN Quantock retained his D Wray & Son Electricians Individual Darts League crown with an awesome display.
He was up against Clifton's Martyn Turner in the final and took a 5-0 lead with legs of 20, 15, 18, 16 and 19.
Turner put in legs of 18 and 19 to peg it back going into the break. Quantock then opened with 17, which was matched by Turner. The last five legs went with the throw as Quantock sealed a 9-5 win.
Quantock's semi-final against his Mitre colleague Rich Corner was one of the highlights of the night.
The best of 15-leg match saw the first five legs go with the throw, with Corner gaming in 16, 20 and 14 and Quantock replying with 14 and 18 darters.
Corner blazed 2 x 17 to lead 5-2 at the break. Quantock closed in 19 at the restart but Corner kept his three-leg lead with 23.
The tenth leg saw Quantock hit 180, 100, 140 and an 81 finish for 12 darts, but Corner gamed in 17 to need one leg to qualify for the final.
With the pressure on, Quantock closed out legs of 13, 13, and 21 to level at 7-7. At this stage, the players needed to win by two clear legs, and Corner edged in front with 15, only for Quantock to make it all square with 26.
Again Corner led with a 118 finish for a fine 15. A 20 darter from Quantock sent the match into 'sudden death' and he shot 140, 140, 125 and 96 finish for an electrifying 11 darts.
Turner defeated John Pickering 8-4 in his semi-final.
The Blind Drawn Pairs tournament saw Martyn Turner-Nick Harteveld battle back from 3-0 down against Pip Hair-John Pickering to win 4-3.
Smallwood keeps Leeman on track
TONI Smallwood, with 3 x 100 for 20 in her singles and 140, 100 in the pairs, guided Leeman 'B' to a resounding 7-2 win against visitors Tramways in their York John Smith's Ladies Darts League division one match.
Wenlock quickly found themselves 3-0 behind against an under strength Blacksmith's but bounced back, with Michelle Britton partnering Sarah Nicklin to secure a last gasp victory.
Clifton 'A' were taken to the wire by visitors Flag before victory came via Wendy Smith- Jan Wilberham.
Division two leaders Burnholme were taken to the wire by club rivals Tang Hall, whose Barbara Ward hit a maximum in the deciding leg but P Thomsom-C Whittaker secured the leaders the match.
Woolpack's Chris Patterson-Kath Powell sealed her side's win at Shepherd 'B'. Clifton 'B' beat Jubilee 'A' despite an 82 finish from Brenda Dawe.
In division three Severus joined opponents Leeman 'D' at the top after defeating them 6-3.
Volunteer 'B' shot into a 4-0 lead before Jan Welby kick started their 'A' team's winning reply, Pauline Hardy-Donna Lynes securing the match.
Christina Waddington-Margaret Yeomans combined to secure victory for Leeman 'A' at Mitre, who put in a valiant effort after being 3-0 down.
Sandra Smith-Katie Wreglesworth sealed Cygnet 'A' team's win against an understrength Cueball 'A'.
