As a parent of two young children, I would like to express both my sadness and disgust at the latest work of the vandals at the swing park in Wigginton, York.
On arriving at the park on Sunday we were horrified to find that the soft flooring underneath some of the swings had been ripped up and scattered everywhere. There is also another large piece of equipment that has been broken, fixed and is now broken again.
It is ironic to think that these vandals will have younger brothers or sisters, nieces or nephews.
The council does its best to keep the park maintained, but surely there are not the resources for council staff to keep coming out every two weeks to repair the equipment.
These areas should be for young children to play happily and safely. Unfortunately, this is not possible with broken glass, litter and damaged play equipment.
I am sure I am not alone in the way I feel, as a lot of other families use the park too. Is there any way to curb this situation, which, I feel, is getting worse?
