FORMER York City star Graeme Murty has earned a recall to the Scotland squad.
The stylish Reading right-back has been drafted into the 20-man squad for the Kirin Cup in Japan after leading his club into the Barclays Premiership.
Scotland are scheduled to face Bulgaria on May 11 and Japan two days later.
Murty, who won his only international cap as a substitute against Wales at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in 2004 under Berti Vogts, is 31 but Walter Smith is hoping he can become a permanent fixture.
"We have been looking at the full-back position for a while," the national coach added. "We don't have an awful lot of players available to us.
"Graeme Alexander (Preston) came in last season after a late call-up and found himself a regular fixture in the team. He played very well and I would hope Graeme Murty could do the same thing."
