After a ten-year gap, Hounds FC are the new York John Smith's Sunday League division one champions.
It took a 5-2 midweek win over rivals Ainsty Panthers and a follow up 5-0 win over the same opposition thanks to strikes from Alan Jackson (2), Forrest, Harkin, and an own goal.
The United's of Derwent and Thorpe fought out a classic with Thorpe turning a 2-1 half-time deficit into a 5-4 win. Thorpe's hit-men were Lanaghan (3), Jobling and Emmett, with Derwent replying through S Collins (2), and Towse (2).
Hambleton took the divison two crown after their 5-4 defeat of Deramore Arms was followed by a 5-1 thrashing of Bishopthorpe. Hot-shot Huddlestone hit his customary hat-trick and Croad and Dunne also found the back of the net.
The division three title went to Acomb Celtic after their 1-0 win over Wilberfoss thanks to an Iain Dickinson goal.
Promotion beckons also for second-placed Skelton after they beat Selby Olympia Reserves 4-1. On target were Michael Heels (2), Rich Wells and Craig Harrison to send the Olympia second-string sliding into relegation.
In division four, runaway champions Wanderers prevailed by the odd goal in a 13-goal thriller with promotion hopefuls Selby Griffin.
A double apiece for Mike Cammidge and Darren Brandon, plus strikes from Dave Newton and Matt and Dave Hartas, saw the champions home but not before a four-goal salvo from Fletcher and one each for Tweedie and Ranby for Griffin had almost put the skids under the win.
New Earswick may have been crowned division five title-winners but Raskelf Rovers' surge of form continued with a 1-0 win over Triangle Club with Steve Johnson getting the goal. That leaves Rovers one point adrift of the promotion places behind Acomb Rangers and Cawood.
Albion aces
Albion Vaults secured a place in the Where In York Trophy final after they beat Enterprise 3-1 with goals from Lee Ward, Gary Wood and Andy White. Mark Tupman replied.
Real Way Station overcame division three side Copmanthorpe 4-3 after extra time to join Albion in the final. The aptly-named Shooter scored twice, with Moore and Tame also on target for Station with Copmanthorpe's plunder shared by James King, Dave Robinson and Matt Bastock.
