A PLACE in North 2 East awaits Malton and Norton RUFC if they can summon up one more epic performance in tomorrow's play-off match with Old Crossleyans.
Malton, second place in Durham and Northumberland One, take on Crossleyans - the side who finished runner-up in Yorkshire One - at The Gannock in what's sure to be a cracking encounter.
The Malt marvels are in great form following a fantastic 33-17 win against Durham and Northumberland League champions Horden last week so, unsurprisingly, are unchanged for tomorrow's clash.
Steve Pease remains at prop forward, and the only addition to the bench is second row John Dobson, who missed last week's duel due to work commitments.
Try-scoring second row Karl Shaw will be hoping lightning strikes twice by following up his early try against Horden with another five-pointer.
Ian Cooke - who slotted in at fly half following a broken nose for skipper Chris Creber - will also look to have another big game.
Both these sides had identical records during the season (18 wins and four defeats) but Malton's points difference was far greater than Crossleyans' and, with home advantage, hopes are high that Malt can return to North 2 East after just a season's absence.
Old Crossleyans turned York over both home and away during the Yorkshire One season and will be a tough test of Malt's resolve.
But, away from their own ground, Crossleyans are far from invincible.
Meanwhile, Pocklington will bring down the curtain on their season with a weekend of activities at Percy Road.
Things kick off with the club's annual dinner tonight, while the club will stage a tag rugby women's seven-a-side tournament tomorrow - the first time such an event has been held in East Yorkshire.
Teams will be taking part from York RI, Leconfield, Goole and Thirsk, among others, in a tournament which could become an annual event if successful.
The junior under-7s, U14s and U16s take centre stage on Sunday morning before the first team play their final match of the season - taking on a President's XV (2pm kick-off).
The President's XV will contain the usual array of players who have links with the club, but have performed at a higher level, and will be led by ex-Premiership second row Mick Watson.
