THE clash of the Selby Clubs in Men's Division Two of the York Badminton League saw Selby/Drax 'B' edge out Selby Jubilee 5-4 with a last-rubber decider.
Neil Richardson and Andrew Hatfield took the Jubilee honours with three wins for 90-38, but Richard Summers and Rex Pocklington sealed the win with a three and seven.
Railway Institute Tuesday/Thursday 'C' suffered two defeats in Men's Three, they lost out 4-5 away at St John's and then went down to a comprehensive 0-9 defeat at Clifton 'B'.
York RI 'A', dominant once again in Mixed Once, scored an 8-1 home win over Riverside 'A'. Tim Jarvis and Nicky Milstead took the best Institute return with three wins for 90-31.
York RI 'B' went one better than their 'A' team with a 9-0 away win over Nestl Rowntree 'A'. Pete Crosland and Nicky Read set the RI standard once again with three straight wins for 90-53.
University Staff Club 'A' showed good home form in Mixed Three with an 8-1 win over Selby Jubilee 'B', closely followed by a 7-2 result over Riverside 'B'. Sue Scott starred for the staff club in both matches.
Against Jubilee she took all three for 92-55 and against Riverside 'B', Scott joined up with regular partner Garry Turner to take a hard fought 114-82.
Huntington 'B' inflicted a second defeat on Mixed Three leaders Tadcaster 86 'A' after a 5-4 win at the Mount School.
Phil Zealand and Lesley Bowling took their usual Tadcaster maximum, but a good Huntington team display paid dividends when Paul Moisley and Angela Hobman took the vital ninth rubber with a two and nine.
Fulfordgate 'B' visited Selby Jubilee 'C' in Mixed Five and were good value for a 7-2 win. Newcomer to league badminton Fahad Amjad, partnered by Sandra Whittaker, made an impressive debut with three wins for 105-81.
Jubilee 'C' suffered a further 7-2 reverse when they travelled to Tadcaster 86 'B'.
A fourth win in a row for improving Terry's in Mixed Division Five saw them end their season with a 5-4 home win over Middlethorpe.
In a very close match Pat Santin and John Maddison made the Terry difference with all three rubbers for a return of 104-69.
