LEEPER Hare York and District Football League Reserve 'B' side Bishopthorpe sprang a major surprise in the Reserve Cup final by beating holders Dringhouses.
The deadlock was broken six minutes into the second half when Dale Lumley threaded a through ball into the path of Dave Kettlewell who put Bishopthorpe in front.
Reserve 'A' champions Dringhouses went 2-0 down when a Kettlewell cross was headed home by Bishopthorpe's leading goal scorer Paul Broadbent.
Daz Wiseman, the Bishopthorpe 'keeper, produced a brilliant brave save to deny Dringhouses an immediate way back but with four minutes remaining Dringhouses did score but the underdogs hung on to win 2-1.
