AS the parents of an autistic boy, we were greatly saddened and sickened by the story of the autistic man thrown from the city walls (Barbaric, April 29).
How dare these yobs pick on those less able to understand the world. What gives them the right to humiliate another human being in this way?
I hope the police catch them and make them pay for the distress they have caused to Chris and to his family.
It's bad enough coping with the difference autism brings about, but to deal with mindless yobs with no understanding at all is just too much to take.
I dread my son growing up in this society. I fear he will be ridiculed and tormented merely because people do not understand his needs.
There has to be a point where social differences are recognised in schools, otherwise I know this sort of bullying will continue.
Our love and sympathy goes to Chris and his family. Keep strong. Keep the faith.
