POLICE are asking for witnesses to a fatal road crash in East Yorkshire to come forward.
The smash happened on the A166, in Fridaythorpe, at about 11am on April 24. The collision was not at first thought to be serious, but one of the passengers subsequently died.
Jack Hatfield, 70, of Whingate Green, Leeds, died in hospital in Leeds on Monday.
The accident happened when a blue Vauxhall Corsa, driven by a 40-year-old Leeds man, was in a line of slow-moving traffic travelling east towards Wetwang.
A black Citroen car, driven by a 19-year-old Leeds man, was overtaking the line of traffic travelling in the same direction as the Corsa and the two vehicles collided.
The Corsa, in which Mr Hatfield was a rear-seat passenger, was sent into a spin, mounted the kerb and overturned. The driver of the Corsa received minor injuries.
Meanwhile, police are asking for witnesses to a fatal crash in Bridlington on Wednesday.
The accident happened on the A165 Kingsgate at about 8.15pm, when a grey Rover MGTF sports car collided with a silver Honda Accord.
A 20-year-old female passenger from Hull in the Rover died. The 21-year-old woman driver, also from Hull, suffered a head injury, fractured pelvis and a fractured left arm, and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.
The driver and passenger in the Honda, both aged 75, from Leeds, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Scarborough Hospital.
