IT was a doubly disappointing day for Civil Service batsman Nick Olney, who not only just missed out on a century but then saw his side suffer an agonising one wicket defeat at Thorp Arch & Boston Spa in division four.
Olney had made 99 when he was bowled by Andy Hawkswell after being aided in a five-run ninth-wicket stand by youngster Robert Thorp.
Service were all out for 162 with Andy Heaps taking 4-51. Clifton Alliance-based player Thorp then proved the value of the League's junior loan scheme by taking 3-23 with his lively medium pacers and played a part in reducing TABS to 130-8.
Chris Cole had provided 39 important runs but Will Bartlett was the hero with an unbeaten 26 as he and Howard Lofthouse earned a one-wicket win.
