A FIRM which offers homecare and support services has opened a new office based at the Nuffield Hospital in Haxby Road, York, with a promise of up to 30 new jobs over the next year.
Independent Home Living, which already specialises in personal and domestic care in Scarborough and Beverley, is now offering the same facilities to the people of York who, because of age or infirmity, want to maintain their independence and live life to the full in their own home.
Recruitment for the new jobs will be largely for people with home help and caring skills.
Director Alison Farrant said: "Due to the generosity of the Nuffield Hospital, we are delighted to be able to offer residents in the York area the services currently enjoyed by those in other areas of Yorkshire."
Pauline Pillai, who has a background in nursing, manages the new facility.
She said: "As we get older or as the result of an accident or illness, our circumstances may change which threaten our independence, resulting in the possibility of having to leave our familiar surroundings.
"In order to help people stay in their own homes, we offer personal care such as bathing, toileting, dressing, hairdressing and companionship.
"We also offer help with home management by carrying out such tasks as home and garden maintenance, cooking, laundry and shopping.
"Professional services such as chiropody and occupational therapy can also be arranged."
Director Ann Wyatt said: "We appreciate that the success of our business is dependent on the individual qualities of the people who work within it.
"Therefore, all our staff are carefully selected and directly employed by us, resulting in a motivated and caring team."
For those interested to learn more about the help and services offered by Independent Home Living, a free initial consultation can be arranged, in your own home, to discuss individual requirements.
Then, working closely with you, and your family if appropriate, a care package can be tailored to your needs.
