DAN Broadbent hammered his second century in consecutive days as York Cricket Club progressed to the third round of the Cockspur National KO Cup by beating Hull by 177 runs.

The Clifton Parkers now meet Central Yorkshire League outfit Methley to whom Easingwold conceded in the second round.

The cup result was a hollow revenge for York's ECB Yorkshire Premier League defeat at Hull two weeks ago.

The Humbersiders only brought six of their normal side so the match was never a contest despite the first over loss of York opener Steve Piercy.

Broadbent powered on to strike 22 fours in an unbeaten 157 and was helped by breezy knocks from Duncan Snell (50), Nick Kay (31) and Alex Collins (42), the latter making his debut after being transferred from Littleborough in the Central Lancashire League.

If Hull had ideas of a bold reply, Nick Thornicroft altered the perception with three wickets in his opening spell.

Only Andrew Simpson and Jack Latus reached double figures for Hull as the York bowlers all had a run out with skipper Marcus Wood grabbing a couple of victims with his leg spinners as Hull were shot out for 119.
