POLICE hunting an attacker who subjected a young woman to a terrifying sexual assault have arrested a man.
Officers swooped on a house in the Riccall area last night. A 21-year-old man was taken to York Police Station, where he was being interviewed by detectives today.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Patrick Twiggs told The Press: "This is a development in the case, but we have yet to see what his period in custody will reveal."
Det Chief Insp Twiggs added police still wanted to hear from anyone with any information about the attack, which took place at the woman's home in Riccall, between York and Selby, soon after 2pm last Wednesday (MAY 10).
Witnesses should phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 6060247 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
See tomorrow's Press for more developments.
