CITY of York Council has taken three months to repair the road running through Elvington and I would like to know why.

I started complaining about this road in January, 2006.

The only thing the council has done consistently is to paint the holes white, yellow, blue, red and then back to white. Not all at once, but over several months.

I suggested to the council that it needs to fill the holes with tarmac.

This suggestion seemed to confuse the council and, after a while, a man in a van was sent to paint the holes yellow.

I wrote to the chief executive on April 14 to complain. The paint, and my patience, were beginning to wear thin.

According to the customer contract the citizens of York have with the council, if you write a letter of complaint to the chief executive you will get a response from the chief executive within ten working days. And that, according to the contract, is 'quite simply a promise'.

I am still waiting for the chief executive to reply.

So put away your paint pots, Mr Chief Executive, and reply to my letter.

Send your reply to The Press if you do not want to write to me and answer the question: Why has it taken three months to repair the road running through Elvington?
