PROMOTION with Leeds United would mean more to striker Rob Hulse than seeing England win the World Cup.

That's how badly the club's 14-goal top scorer wants Premiership football - and he is dreaming of doing a 'Steven Gerrard' in Sunday's Championship play-off final against Watford at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

Hulse marvelled at Gerrard's long-distance wonder goal in the FA Cup final against West Ham at the Millennium Stadium last week.

Now the man who regularly dreams of scoring vital goals, admits: "I would love to score a Steven Gerrard goal at Cardiff. He's a legend, isn't he?

"It's true that I try to visualise goals, but that's no massive deal. It's not something I do every night - I do have a life as well, but if I could wish for any goal it would be a winner against Watford on Sunday."

The ex-West Brom and Crewe striker added: "Up to now my most important goal was the semi-final winner against Preston but that is forgotten now - dusted under the carpet.

"Sunday's game is without doubt the biggest of my career because it is worth so much money to Leeds United.

"A goal like Gerrard's second would be ideal but if the ball went in off my bum or my knee I wouldn't lose any sleep over that.

"It would be just great to win and secure Premiership football.

"Whether I score or not, it is important that we put on a good performance and reward our fans for their tremendous support."

Hulse is as patriotic as the next man, but, given the choice of promotion with Leeds or seeing England win the World Cup, he doesn't think twice.

"That's easy - promotion with Leeds," he beams. "Ideally I'd like both to happen, of course, but after the amount of work put in by the lads and all the staff at the club, promotion would be the right reward."
