York Acorn ARLC Under-18s went into their final game of the season under-prepared after arriving only minutes before kick off at Doncaster Toll Bar – and suffered a 28-12 defeat.

Toll Bar led 12-0 at half-time before Acorn hit back with a Josh Mortimer try converted by Antony Chilton.

Doncaster extended their lead with a try, before Acorn again responded with a Tom Eaton try, goaled by Chilton, and the game was in the balance.

As Acorn pressed, two mistakes led to two tries for Doncaster to put the game out of reach.

Chris Rushworth – who took some stopping all game – played well in attack and Carl Loft was outstanding in defence, but Acorn now rely on other results in order to qualify for the top-four play-offs.

New Earswick U14s gained revenge for an early-season defeat at Stanningley with a 24-10 home win.

Tom Gurden scored two tries, with Calum Graham and Louis Phillips also scoring, and Tom Kilvington scored a try and two goals to give the All Blacks victory. Man of the match was Tom Gurden, followed closely by Louis Phillips and Kieron Parker.

Four tries from loose-forward Adam Lovett helped Heworth U14s to a comfortable 56-0 home win against Batley Boys.

Prop Dave Larkin bagged a personal haul of 24 points from a hat-trick and six conversions, and man of the match Oliver Radford contributed two tries and two conversions to cap a fine performance.

Other try scorers were Lewis Holmes and Ollie Armitage, and Joe Moore was the coach’s player of the week.

In a curtain raiser to the Featherstone v Whitehaven Championship match at Bigfellas Stadium, York Acorn U14s were beaten 40-6 by Stanley Rangers.

Acorn’s only try came from Josh Potter, which was goaled by Ash Robson, and the Featherstone chairman picked out Potter, Robson and captain Harry Bromwich as Acorn’s outstanding players.

York Acorn U13s took the spoils in a thrilling game at East Leeds, winning 24-22. Tries came from Zac Baker, Calum McDarby, Reece Arthur and two tries from Jacob Walker were just enough to earn Acorn the victory, with Tom Nobles tackling proving decisive in his new role at full-back.

New Earswick U11s enjoyed an evenly matched game against Castleford Panthers, two tries from Dominic Judge helped the All Blacks to a 10-10 draw.

Cameron Taylor and Chad Mason defended well, led by man of the match Oliver Finch on his return to the side.

York Acorn U11s put in another fine display against Allerton Bywater to record a 46-6 home victory.

Reece Maynard and Thomas Atkin scored two tries each, with further tries coming from Kieran Levers, Dalton Brolly, Jacob Sanderson and man of the match Willam Dickinson.

A great defensive effort saw Owen Levers get the top tackler award, and coaches player of the match was Thomas Atkin.

In their first game after the winter break, New Earswick U10s scored eight tries to comfortably beat Oulton Vikings 44-4. Tries came from Harry Suter, Jimmy Piggot (2) and most improved player Joe Crampton, with man of the match Josh Ireland also scoring four tries.

Mathew Williams also played well and Adam Walker was outstanding in defence after coming off injured then reappearing to the fore.

Josh Rogerson scored his 200th club try as Heworth U10s won 18-6 away at Garforth.

The prolific winger scored two tries, with others coming from Kieren Costanzo and Sam Young. Prop Cain North was to the fore with a man-of-the-match performance, followed by Arron McBride (man of steel) and Leon Beattie (team player).

Another great defensive display helped Heworth U8s to a victory over Knottingley. Man of the match Alex Bell scored a try and topped the tackle count. Most improved player was Niall Bowlby.

Myles Harrison scored two tries as did Kian Oliver, with a brilliant jinking solo effort getting the magic moment award. Jak Ostergaard completed the scoring.
