STUDENTS at a York school have drawn up their own political battle-lines ahead of the General Election.
The group of candidates at Canon Lee School are combining their studies with preparations for their own mock election on Thursday.
The students secured nominations to to stand, appointed members of staff as their campaign managers, made rosettes and posters and drew up manifestos.
They also faced their peers and put forward their ideas in assemblies.
On May 6 – the same day as the election – a classroom at the school will be turned into a polling station.
The candidates are Lewis Clark (Labour), Emily Bamford Kirby (Conservative), Ashley Walker (Liberal Democrats), Katie Free and Becca Hilton (Green Party) and Noah Culpin, Lucy Whitelaw and Abigail Yeomans, who are standing as independents.
