YORK’S election candidates took to the streets for the final weekend of campaigning.
Christian Vassie, who is fighting York Central for the Liberal Democrats, was in Parliament Street talking to voters and handing out flyers.
Mr Vassie said that if he won, he would fight to reform Parliament, improve public transport, kickstart the York Central site, regulate banking and protect and improve the health service.
Meanwhile, in a visit to Asda in Harrogate, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg also spoke out on the need for electoral reform.
He said: “After this campaign, when so many young people have said ‘no, we want something different’, when so many people have said after the expenses scandal they want something new, they want something different in their politics, we can’t carry on with the same old politics.”
