THE funeral of a North Yorkshire postmistress allegedly murdered by her husband will be held tomorrow.

The service will take place in the church in Melsonby, across the green from where Diana Garbutt’s body was found above the post office she ran with her husband, Robin.

Her funeral comes as people living in the village meet to discuss temporary arrangements to replace some of the services provided by the post office and store.

The funeral will be led by Melsonby vicar, the Reverend Stan Haworth.

Diana, who grew up in the Selby area and later lived with her husband in York, was found dead in the living quarters of the post office on March 23 after police responded to reports of a robbery.

Mr Garbutt, 44, has since been charged with murder and appeared in court, where his barrister indicated the 44-year-old would deny the accusation when he returned to court next month.

Mrs Garbutt’s funeral will be held at St James’ Church, at 1.30pm, followed by private cremation.
