YORK City officials were today holding talks with Seetickets in a bid to iron out problems with the booking system for the Blue Square Premier play-off final at Wembley.
The Football Conference announced that, as of 5pm last night, ticket sales had reached 24,644 – with Oxford fans snapping up 20,569 and York supporters taking up only 4,075.
Although a league spokesman described the sales as “phenomenal”, City director Sophie Hicks was concerned at difficulties being experienced by Minstermen fans.
She said: “We have an issue with the ticket process and we are going to resolve it today. We are in talks with the Conference and Seetickets about the service that has been provided to our supporters.
“On one hand we are told only 4,000 tickets have been sold, but on the other hand we are getting complaints from supporters who are being told that our level one section at Wembley has sold out. We urge as many York people as possible to support the event and ask them to please persevere with the ticketing.”
