HERE is one solution to ease our massive debt.
What is beyond me is why we, in this small island, need 650 MPs to govern us, together with 700-plus members of the House of Lords.
In the US, they have half that number, despite a population five times greater, and seem to manage fairly well.
We need an economy drive; this is where we could make a start. We really could save a fortune by making this happen.

• IF any future government wishes to save money, may I suggest that they make a start by making Tony Blair pay for his own security and protection.
He swans round the world in a cavalcade of bodyguards at the taxpayers’ expense, at the same time receiving up to £350,000 for four hours’ work. That’s just a top-up for his alleged £25 million fortune.
