A WORKER was rushed to hospital after a fall at Drax Power Station.

Fire and ambulance crews were called to the Selby power station at about 10am yesterday after reports of a man falling into a ten-foot pit.

A statement from Drax Power Station said there would be an investigation into safety procedures at the site, but could not confirm the details of the accident.

The statement said: “A contract scaffolder was involved in an incident at Drax Power Station this morning. Drax first aiders arrived swiftly on the scene and the man has been taken to hospital for a full examination. As is the practice for all incidents, a full investigation is now in progress.”

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue confirmed that the man, who has not yet been identified, had already been rescued by his fellow workers by the time their officers arrived.

The man was taken by ambulance to Doncaster Royal Infirmary. It is believed he was conscious, but no further update to his condition was available.
