WE HEAR through The Press (May 8) that it is now the second anniversary of the tragic death of York teenager Ruby Milnes.
It is a sad anniversary by any standards and the grief of those who knew Ruby will never fully pass, but it would help give closure to her family and friends if there were to be a final pronouncement in the investigation into her death.
This was a mysterious accident, happening on what should be seen as an ultra-safe off-road cycle track, but two years later, with all evidence collected from the location, with the bushes cut back and sight-lines improved, and presumably anyone and everyone interviewed, it is difficult to imagine what more work is taking place in this investigation.
The time has surely come for the Crown Prosecution Service, the police, and the Heath & Safety Executive to stop prevaricating and to come to some final decisions. No one wants a case of this nature to be rushed, but after waiting for two years, the family of Ruby Milnes deserves an answer.
