ALL-ROUNDERS Gareth Fenton and Salman Syed teamed up to propel The Retreat into round one of the Stephensons Junior Charity Cricket Cup.
The Retreat totalled 123-4 in their preliminary round tie against Long Marston, with Denny Flynn making 54, Fenton hitting 29 and Syed compiling 21 not out.
Ed Rawling made 43 for Long Marston, but Fenton took 4-18 and Syed 3-22 as they closed on 107-8.
The Retreat’s 16-run triumph earned them a trip to South Milford in round one.

Round 1: Hemingbrough v Osbaldwick, South Milford v The Retreat, Huntington or Woodhouse Grange II v Cawood or Rufforth, Stockton & Hopgrove v Acomb II or Dringhouses, Burn or York II v New Earswick, Rowntrees v Stamford Bridge or Dunnington, Tadcaster Magnet v Barmby Moor, Ovington or Stillington v Heworth.
The final will be played at Osbaldwick on July 22.
