I HOPE the York Library refurbishment will leave room among the PCs and DVDs for some books. Wikipedia (when it gets it right), e-books and audio books have their place, of course. But there is no substitute for the qualitatively different experience of opening The Death Of Socrates, Crime And Punishment or (heaven forbid) Jane Eyre. Get real! Read a rook.
