THE 20 finalists for this year’s Miss York competition have finally been revealed – and will now take part in a boot camp with the current Miss England, soldier Katrina Hodge.

The final, originally due to be held next month, has been brought forward to Sunday, May 30, and will be staged as planned at the Royal York Hotel.

But next Tuesday, the finalists will take part in a fitness challenge at Roko health club at Clifton Moor, where they will be put through their paces by Roko fitness experts, assisted by Lance Corporal Katrina.

“They have to prove they are not just a pretty face by taking part in the fitness challenge,” said Miss York organiser Angie Beasley.

Katrina said she was delighted the traditional swimwear round had been replaced by sportswear.

“I’m sure the girls will be much happier on the catwalk wearing more,” she said.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the York finalists. This will be my first boot camp with the Miss England girls and I hope more will follow.”

The Miss York winner will receive prizes including direct entry to the Miss England final, membership to Roko, an evening gown from Desire of Filey, a TV training course and a photo shoot and portfolio.

Tickets to the event are priced at £20, which includes a glass of wine. The event starts at 5.30pm on the day. You can pay by phoning 01162 440479 or emailing info@missengland.info marking your email MISS YORK.
