A DANCE crew from a York secondary school have won a breakdancing championship for the third academic year in a row.
0.2.ILL, from All Saints’ RC School, in Mill Mount, which is made up of two girls and six boys, has scooped the TruSkool Breakdance Battle 2010 trophy.
For the past two years, a group of 12 and 13-year-olds from the school have won the UK Schools B-boy Championships for breakdance.
This year with a slightly different line-up, due to students graduating, 0.2.ILL defended its winning title at the TruSkool Breakdance Battle final in Stratford Circus, London, going head-to-head against 12 other crews from around the country and won.
Phil Jackson, assistant head teacher, said: “They were absolutely ecstatic about pulling off the hat-trick this year and they have won three regional competitions as well as three national competitions.
“It reflects on the commitment and dedication of the students, especially as half of them were new this year, and reflects on the people who trained them, Paul Webster, Jake Green and organiser, Fran Garvey.”
