A STYLISH single mum from York has reached the final 12 in a contest to find the UK’s most fashionable woman.

After seeing off competition from 13,000 other hopefuls, 23-year-old Tasha Muds, of Acomb, now faces a sudden-death online vote in the Style Hunt competition, and has a chance of grabbing the £5,000 cash prize and a trip to New York.

She said: “On my lunch break I was walking through town and some of the organisers of the competition followed me into a shop and asked if I would have my picture taken.

“They phoned me a few weeks later and said I had been short-listed for the final 20.”

The competition is being run by the national radio group Galaxy FM, where judges picked Tasha from thousands of other style-conscious contestants to go head to head in the online vote.

She said: “Now I’m in the top 12 and I’m so excited.

“But now the public vote and somebody gets kicked off every day.

“It’s starting to get quite interesting now and I’m starting to realise that this is a competition.

“I saw the other contestants last night and I was so shocked because they all looked so impressive – but £5,000 would really help me and my daughter.

“It’s great to be acknowledged and I feel a great sense of achievement, especially being a single mum. I’d like to think my style highlights even mums can be trendy too.”

Tasha, who works in a clothes store in the centre of York, said she managed to keep herself looking good while working and caring for her 18-month-old daughter, Coco, thanks to help from her family and friends and being able to spot a bargain.
