York Cycleworks rider Alastair Kay turned in a superb performance to snatch third in the elite category of the Chaters Hotel Stan Robson Road Race at Stokesley.
The field of 80 riders was headed by Olympic gold medallist and former world points race champion Chris Newton, of the Rapha-Condor team.
Newton’s Namibian team-mate, Dan Craven, last year’s African Continental road race champion, was second.
Kay produced a well timed late attack, allowing him to evade the sprinters in the four-man chase group.
Next on the calendar are the Yorkshire division road race championships May 23 on the Beckwithshaw circuit. The Ryedale Grand Prix will be held at Duncombe Park on June 6.
