York City fans have been offered a northern welcome when they travel to the playoff match at Wembley on Sunday.
Former York resident Jess Cox is owner of The Perseverance in Marylebone, London, and is opening his bar exclusively to York City fans from 10am.
Jess, 53, said: “I’m from the north myself and used to live in Albermarle Road near York racecourse.
"In fact I met my wife there, so I have always had a bit of a soft spot for York."
“For the last five years or so, every time there’s a final on at Wembley I open the pub exclusively to the fans I have the most affinity with. I’m a Newcastle boy, so they’re usually northern teams.”
Jess said the pub is ideally located for fans travelling to the famous stadium, just a short walk from Marylebone train station, where fans can catch a Wembley shuttle train to the stadium in time for kick-off.
The bar is also offering free on-street parking and is outside the congestion zone for vehicles, meaning drivers can save money too.
