POLICE are appealing for information after reports of a man loitering outside a number of schools in the Pocklington area.
Over the last week, police have received numerous reports of a white man acting suspiciously near schools in the area. He is about 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, in his late 50s with a tidy appearance and possibly wearing glasses.
A man matching that description has been seen near schools in Barmby Moor, Wilberfoss, West Green in Pocklington and at the football field on The Balk in Pocklington last Sunday.
The man is believed to have a rusty-coloured or brown coloured hatchback or estate-type car. A vehicle matching that description was seen near Pocklington Infants School on Monday afternoon.
Sergeant Pete Rogers, from Pocklington Police, said: “We are stepping up patrols in areas in response to concerns. At this stage there have been no offences alleged. It is just a bit suspicious and we are wishing to identify who the individual is to eliminate them from our inquiries.
“They may be completely innocent but we need to speak to the individual concerned if that is the case. Anybody who has any information is asked to contact us on 0845 60 60 222.”
