UNSTOPPABLE York Schoolboy Under-12s bagged a league and cup double with a 4-0 victory over Nottingham in Sheffield.
The Minster city youngsters added the Michael Dale Cup to their earlier league title success with a stunning display.
York started the brighter in a competitive first period and Joey McCormick saw his effort saved by the Nottingham ’keeper after only two minutes.
On six minutes, Ben Hirst’s header from a corner was again kept out by the Nottingham defence.
Midfielder Jake Wright went close to breaking the deadlock on 25 minutes with a thunderous first-time shot from the edge of the area which struck the crossbar.
A minute later, York took a deserved lead when Matty Parker exploited a lapse in the Nottingham defence and lobbed the ’keeper from 12 yards.
The game opened up more in the second period and York doubled their advantage 15 minutes in when McCormick scored with a right-foot snap-shot that took the ’keeper by surprise.
Hirst scored a superb solo effort five minutes from time, breaking down the left before cutting in and firing into the bottom left-hand corner.
The rout was completed in stoppage time when Ben Godfrey got his reward for a commanding performance with a right-foot strike from the edge of the area.
It was a fitting end to a season which has seen York complete the campaign unbeaten.
Manager Tony Wales hailed a “memorable season”.
He said: “I would like to pay tribute to the whole squad for their efforts and attitude. It has been a memorable season in which everyone has contributed.”
